Just in: Gergiev is sued for unpaid ballet fees

The distinguished Russian artist Mikhail Shemyakin claims that he has not been paid for a series of ballets he designed at the Mariinsky Theatre in 2005. He told journalists: ‘I wrote to Valery [Gergiev] because I didn’t, as they say, want to wash our dirty laundry in public. But I have received such rebuffs from the Mariinsky Theatre’s lawyers about my money! I was told that Gergiev said that Shemyakin will get no money.’ Full story here.
