Ria Novosti reports that Anatoly Iksanov has been dismissed as head of the Bolshoi Theatre after a series of catastrophes, including the acid attack on the ballet chief Sergei Filin and subsequent arrests and walkouts.
Iksanov has run the Bolshoi since 2000. His successor will be Vladimir Urin, head of the Stanislavsky Theatre.
The company is due to dance at Covent Garden later this month.
