Another leading cellist draws his last bow

Erling Bløndal Bengtsson, the outstanding Danish cellist, has died in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he taught until 2006. He was 79.

Bengtsson recorded mostly for the national label Danacord and was not the most charismatic performer, but he was revered internationally as a teacher and a modest role model. Our condolences to his family and friends.

You are mistaken about Erling Bengtsson’s age. He was 81, not 79.
