New video: Lohengrin singer proposes marriage at end of dress rehearsal

Let the hard-hearted among you look away. This is a moment of pure Irish romance at the end of a Lohengrin dress rehearsal. Hat-tip to Sam McElroy, an outstanding Irish romantic, for spotting this.

Enjoy!

UPDATE: The happy couple are Joe Roche and Paula Greenwood, from the Welsh National Opera chorus. We wish them every joy. UPDATE 2: And here’s a BBC interview with them.

    • I saw the opening night tonight and thought it was great!
Lots of people chatting about this proposal before hand (that and the arrival of Prince Charles) so lovely to see this video!

Orchestra was on fine form and the larger than usual chorus was excellent too.

No on stage proposals though, so in that respect it was a bit disappointing…. ;)
