The New York office of IMG Artists, the classical agency co-owned by convicted fraudster Barrett Wissman, has plunged into fresh turmoil.
Early this year its popular and experienced managing director, Elizabeth Sobol, walked out to join Universal Music Group.
IMG announced an immediate replacement, David Lai, a Sony veteran.
But we hear from insiders that Lai has already ‘stepped down’, over what people are ascribing to ‘personal reasons’. He remains a consultant.
More troubling for artists is the resignation this week of Alec Treuhaft, Renee Fleming’s and Alan Gilbert’s personal agent and a senior v-p who knows where all the parts fit.
We hear that the ‘personal reasons’ may involve IMG Artists’ President and CEO Jerry Inzerillo, a weather-changing outsider who once ran a Vegas hotel. IMG Artists is looking more and more like Keystone Cops.
