Berlin opera chief is felled by a stroke

Jürgen Flimm, artistic director of the Berlin State Opera, is in hospital after suffering a stroke. Former head of the Salzburg Festival, Flimm, 71, staged the 2000 Ring at Bayreuth and has directed in most major opera houses.

The stroke is believed to be a minor incident and Flimm is expected back at work next  month.
