Irina Maslennikova was one of most famous operatic sopranos in the former Soviet Union.
She was famous in her own right, and for being the fifth wife (of six) and stage partner of the rumbustious tenor, Sergei Lemeshev. He died in 1977.
Irina died in Moscow yesterday. Her funeral will leave from the Conservatoire, where she taught for 40 years. May she rest in peace.
