A singer whose father sold 35 percent of her lifetime earnings to an associate was freed in the High Court in London today from a bid by the contract owner to commit her to jail for non-payment.
Eliana Pretorian, 31, has sung at Glyndebourne and Sadler’s Wells and with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
Standing pregnant outside the court, she said her father’s deal had ‘nearly destroyed my life.’ Although her obligation to pay had been upheld in 2009 by a Romanian court, the judge in London threw out the case against her, ordering the contract owner to pay costs.

Is she singing or miming?? or just singing on top of an orchestra backing track, or, as is the usual technique, to actually really sing over the track but the broadcast sound the at home audience hears is the pre-record, all legitimate techniques for broadcast sound, does anyone care!
In my eyes the quality of her performances are not important in this case.
Such agent lifetime earnings contracts shall be illegal.
I agree however, that an agent who finances and organizes a child’s education and marekting shall have a chance to earn back his money. But this shall be limited to: 1. a reasonable percentage of the earnings, which would be an absolute minimum to zero for minimal wages. 35% seems ok for extremely high salaries. 2. a maximum and reasonable total sum.
