We hear from the Kurt Masur team that he is in good spirits in Ichilov hospital in Tel Aviv after undergoing a hip replacement. Contrary to the Israel Philharmonic statement, he suffered a fal not after rlehearsal but in his hotel room. His wife Tomoko helped him up and took him to hospital, where was decided to operate on a broken hip (not leg, as previously reported). Doctors are confident that he will make a full recovery from what is nowadays a routine procedure. The indomitable Mr Masur, 85, is assuring everyone that he will return to work very soon.
Maestro Masur is very much loved in Brazil as well and I hope for his speedy recovery!
