Just in: German customs return seized Strad to Chinese violinist

Chinese violin virtuoso Feng Ning has today announced the safe return of his prized 1721 Stradivarius – confiscated last week by Frankfurt airport customs officials | In a facebook statement, the former prize winner at the Paganini, Michael Hill, Hannover, Queen Elisabeth and Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competitions, has stressed the importance of carrying an instrument ATA carnet (if at all possible) or proof of ownership, valuation and documentation quantifying reasons for stay | In addition, he has stressed the paramount importance of entering and exiting German customs, whilst transporting an instrument, via the ‘Red Channel’ | Mr Ning’s confiscation is the fourth known case at Frankfurt airport in less than 6 months.
