What’s Thomas Quasthoff up to? He’s playing the fool

Ever since he quit singing exactly a year ago, we have lost touch with the activities of the great bass-baritone and phenomenal human  being who goes by the name of Thomas Quasthoff.

A note from his agent brings us up to date. In addition to his regular talk shows, Helga reports that Tommy is indulging his love of theatre by playing the Fool in a Berliner Ensemble production of Twelfth NightThe run continues until February 12.

Any chance we could see him at the Royal Shakespeare Company? He’d be a sensation at Stratford.

  2. Roberto Gonzalez says:

While I admire his adventurous life, I miss his singing. His recording of the Mahler Wayfarer songs, is by far, the best in many, many years, and Boulez makes the Vienna Philharmonic play admirably… I have two of his recordings, one on DG and the other on Capriccio, with other Mahler songs, but the Boulez is the most special…

I am happy to hear Mr. Quasthoff is still on stage thrilling us with his performance. I am just so sad that I only found his talented voice recently. He is the best bass I have ever heard! He achieved more than most of us could ever attempt. Bravo!
