We’ve just heard that Julia Lezhneva, 23, is making an unscheduled London concert debut in March, to coincide with her first Decca recording. What’s nicer still is that she’s giving the proceeds to Pushkin House, the oligarch-free London centre for Russian culture.
SOPRANO JULIA LEZHNEVA TO MAKE LONDON SOLO CONCERT DEBUT
LONDON, 30 January 2013. On the eve of the international releaseof “Alleluia,” her first solo recording with Decca Classics, soprano Julia Lezhneva will make her London solo concert debut on 7 March 2013 at St. James’s Church, Piccadilly, another milestone in a career launched in the UK with her stunning appearance at the 2010 Classical Brit Awards. The event will benefit the Pushkin House, London’s Russian cultural centre.
Accompanied at the piano and the organ by Michael Antonenko, Julia Lezhneva will perform excerpts from “Alleluia”, which features four motets by Vivaldi, Porpora, Händel and Mozart, as well as songs by Rossini, Bellini and Schubert. Julia Lezhneva will autograph copies of her new recordingfollowing the performance. For separate admission, Pushkin House hosts a post-concert private reception at the nearby Russian
contemporary art gallery Erarta at which Julia Lezhneva will be the guest of honour.
