Sergei Filin, artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet who had acid flung in his face, underwent several hours of surgery on Saturday in Moscow’s 36th hospital. Doctors say it will be 10-11 days before they know the results. Arrangements have been made to transfer Mr Filin to a hospital in Belgium for further procedures.
No suspect has been named or arrested in the attack. The Moscow rumour mill is churning out whispers of jealous professional rivals.
