The youth cult is spreading like chickenpox.
The Petruzelli Foundation, which presents opera and concerts in Bari, has appointed as its new music director a hot young baton from Milan, Daniele Rustioni. At 29, he has led productions at La Scala, Covent Garden and Glimmerglass, and he’s down to conduct Norma at Washington National Opera.

Seems to me that Bari, a medium-sized city that isn’t a major media center, would be a good place for a highly promising young conductor to learn the business of being a music director.
Chickenpox now, shingles later.
