Andrei Gavrilov to give early morning London recital

10.30 am in Greenwich is not the usual concert hour. But then the player is Gavrilov, who may show, or may blow.

He’s also giving a masterclass. See below.

Internationally acclaimed pianist Andrei Gavrilov leads Trinity Laban masterclass

Acclaimed Russian pianist Andrei Gavrilov will lead a masterclass in piano at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance on Tuesday 22 January, with a number of piano students getting an unprecedented opportunity to hear this talented and sometimes controversial figure perform, as well as having him critique their own playing.

Trinity Laban’s head of Piano and Organ, Deniz Gelenbe, encouraged students and visitors alike to attend, saying: ‘’We are extremely privileged and excited to host the legendary Andrei Gavrilov at  Trinity Laban.’’

Notes to editors

Gavrilov will perform a short recital (open to the public) on Tuesday 22 January at 10:30 in the Peacock Room at King Charles Court, the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, SE10 9JF. The masterclass will follow this short performance.

What a giant of a pianist he is in every way and wonderfully encouraging and illuminating in his masterclass with the students, especially on Scriabin’s 4th Piano Sonata.
