Alagna, distracted, stops the conductor before his aria can begin

Odd goings-on last night at Andrea Chenier in Avery Fisher Hall.

The much talked-about Roberto Alagna, who’s in the throes of domestic rearrangements, was last on stage for the concert performance. When he was due to start his aria, he stopped. Cue: consternation.
