In this rare, rights-protected photograph by Brian Seed, Benjamin Britten and a companion are seen leading a procession from Blythburgh church following a concert he conducted in June 1964 as part of the Aldeburgh Festival. On left in second row is Countess Harewood and behind her Peter Pears. But who is the lady at Britten’s side?
His sister Beth, surely?
That was my guess. Can anyone confirm?
I found this pic of them both on the BBC’s site – I’d say it’s the same face (though 26 years younger):

I think it’s his sister Barbara, not Beth. Beth was taller than that.
