The full Montero: How to be a single mum and a world-class pianist

Gabriela Montero, in the half-hour audio version of our conversation, talks freely and with great lucidity about all aspects of her life

- about the conflict of being a single parent with two growing daughters (‘it has been a daily negotiation’);

- of rejecting the pressures of teachers, mentors and the music business (‘I felt like a prisoner of my own abilities);

- of fighting the Venezuelan regime (‘I can’t go back’);

- of the secular epiphany she experienced at the Chopin Competition;

- of much,  much else.
