Italian pianist, dreaming of London, winds up practising in a railway station

Samuel Rossini, eager for success, sold up in Italy and moved to London a month ago. He’s now living in a hostel and practising on a piano in the Eurostar terminal at St Pancras, where a passing film director, Fred Portilli, captured him at work. Next time you pass by, give him some encouragement.

  1. I’ve played on that piano! It’s a great idea having pianos available for the public to play – we should have more of them.

    • Bruce Wishart says:

The main shopping centre in Liverpool called ‘Liverpool One’ has had for several years now – pianos around the concourse, played everyday by the public..

  2. The pianos are great, but they need more regular tuning! (I walk through there every morning at the moment; Bach C-major is the most frequently played.)

  3. That is worth a special trip to St Pancras – he’s excellent!

  4. I saw him the other day whilst on my way to my piano lesson!!
