It will be announced later today that Marshall Marcus is to become chief executive of the European Union Youth Orchestra. He replaces its founder Joy Bryer, who, in her 80s, is upgraded to president.
Marshall, head of music at London’s South Bank until he tired of its endless meetings culture, is an international consultant for Venezuela’s el sistema and a vigorous proponent of the social advantages of musical education.
He was also co-founder and chef executive of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
EUYO is heading into a new ballgame.
