Dame Elisabeth Murdoch died today, aged 103.
She was one of the nation’s greatest enthusiasts and biggest supporters of the performing arts. Thanks to her, Melbourne has a chamber music hall to match the world’s best.
The next two generations of wealthy Australians, her descendants among them, seem unlikely to match her genuine interest and generosity.
We pay respects to the Murdoch family for a long life, very well lived.
