The eight seasonal single from Slipped Disc requires no scholarly apparatus. The pianist is called Leonid Egorov, and he’s going places. Apparently he does this all the time, varying the variations according to season.

I honestly don’t know why more classical musicians don’t do this: improv used to be a preciously lauded gift and the sign of a true musician. apart from jazzers, most of us aren’t encouraged at all.
