The man who brought Sweeney Todd to Broadway

Marty Richards, Sondheim’s premiere producer in 1979, has died aged 80.

He won eight Tonys for Sweeney and more for the musical, Chicago. He had a good name on the street and never got corrupted by Hollywood.

Here’s a full list of credits.

  1. As a reader, always interested in Mr. Lebrecht’s writings, whom I salute!
As a composer, I would be interested to hear about my music from him and his readers…
I suggest Laudes (cycle for voice and piano) or Feux (String Quartet) or Chants du signe (Trio)
    Thank you!
    Musical feedback…
