Rodolfo Cazares has been held by Mexican gunmen for 450 days. It is not certain whether he is still alive and the Mexican government has gone into a deep siesta on the subject.
But the music world is aroused. Some 30,000 have signed a petition for Rodolfo’s release, including many eminent conductors.
On Sunday, the orchestra of Cannes gave an awareness raising concert for the plight of Rodolfo. The French president, Francois Hollande, is taking a personal interest. Mexico is gaining a reputation for being unsafe, and uncaring.
