The Schoenberg score that Mahler fought for is up for sale

You remember the story from Mahler Remembered? Gustav gets his bro-in-law Arnold Rosé to premiere young Arnie’s second string quartet, the one where he breaks into atonality with a high soprano.

Riots break out. Mahler threatens to flatten a man’s nose and has to be dragged out by Alma. More or less.

The score’s for sale at Sotheby’s Paris next week, and it’s a beauty. The guide price is $100,000-150,000.
