Francis Burt, a British composer who moved to Vienna in 1956, has died aged 86 on October 3rd.
Burt wrote three operas and a ballet, The Golem, often utilising electronics. He was also intrigued by Ibo drumming, having served with the British Army in West Africa. Burt won the City of Vienna Prize in 1981 and was professor at the University of Music.
