Relief! Missing music scholar has been found

I understand the family’s concern, I really do … and I appreciate we don’t have all the information ….but I also feel this was rather alarmist and has now caused the poor boy an enormous amount of professional and personal embarassment.
They made it clear they were worried enough about him harming himself to feel that he needed to be found urgently. If you’re very depressed and you go AWOL, getting you home alive is more important that any embarrassment, surely. I really hope he will feel he has no need to be embarrassed anyway, I for one am certainly not judging him. Many, many, many of us will suffer or have suffered from depression at some point in our lives. Being alive and safe is far more important than one’s career, when it comes to that.
Any embarrassment will hopefully be short lived. People memories are sometimes surprisingly short.
