Just in: Andre Watts to play with locked-out Indy musicians

The month-long lockout at the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra has received less coverage than Atlanta and Minnesota, but the players are suffering just as much. The first big name to offer support is the had-working US pianist, joined by conductor Samuel Wong. Good for them. Read on here.

Comments

  1. I thought Sam Wong’s career has evaporated since the time he was thrown out by the Hong Kong Philharmonic?

  2. Glad to hear. I’m not surprised that Watts would support the musicians against the corporation – given how shamefully Watts recorded legacy has been treated by Sony (with many recording never issued on CD).

  3. Related: The musicians of the Minnesota Orchestra have just announced that our conductor laureate, Stanislaw Skrowaczewski (who was Minneapolis/Minnesota’s music director from 1960-79) will conduct us in a concert on October 18, which would have been the orchestra’s official opening night, but for the lockout.
