Exclusive: LA police arrest man who ran amok at the Opera

Local media have failed to report the violent attacks at LA Opera by a young man who was out of control. Slipped Disc published an account by an eye-witness and there has been followup by the authorities.

We hear overnight that police arrested the young man outside the opera house and took him down to the mental health facility at the University of Southern California. His mother approached one of the victims and explained that her son was a diagnosed schizophrenic. He had not suffered an episode for several years, but a doctor had recently changed his meds and that may have been the cause of his unfortunate eruption.

Let’s hope the USC docs can get him back on an even keel.

Comments

  1. The story should have been covered by local media. Opera needs all the free press it can get. I might add, with all due respect, A Schizophrenic at the Opera has significant operatic potential… “based a real events”.

  2. Take the incident in the auditorium of the LA Opera, and stage it as an opera and one has …Pagliacci!

1Norman, what is the illustration–it looks like an 18th c. painting but is tagged “laopera”!

Poor man….he is sick! We can not judge him! He should get free health care!!!!
