James Brown – oboist, teacher and producer of countless editions of oboe works – died today at the age of 83.
A veteran player in the London concert halls, notably with the English Chamber Orchestra, he was a taxing though popular teacher at the Royal College of Music and throughout a good colleague.

Charming man and fine player. He dodged the Grim Reaper previously a few years ago as above link.

A little oboe humor. From one oboist to another, God speed Mr Brown.
