Death of an oboe master

James Brown – oboist, teacher and producer of countless editions of oboe works – died today at the age of 83.

A veteran player in the London concert halls, notably with the English Chamber Orchestra, he was a taxing though popular teacher at the Royal College of Music and throughout a good colleague.
