There are 128 layoffs and 21 ‘early’ retirements at the Madrid-based intelligent daily. Early means 50 years of age.
The remaining staff will take a 15 percent pay cut.
A great newspaper is being crunched by the Euro crisis and the general retreat from print.
There will be a strike next week, but the tide seems irreversible.
