Another US orchestra cancels season opening as conductor quits in frustration

Orchestra Nova of San Diego joins the ever-lengthening list of US ensembles that have missed the start of the 2012/13 season.

Nova has failed to get agreement over the past six months with its musicians and artistic director Jung-ho Pak decided he’d had enough.

The orch’s CEO said she cancelled the season-opener for fear the musicians would do as the Chocago Symphony Orchestra did and call a strike two hours before the concert.
