We are receiving reports that Zoltan Kocsis, music director of the Hungarian National Orchestra, was rushed to hospital on Thursday with a suspected heart attack. He underwent cardiac surgery and is said to be improving.
A replacement – Janos Kovacs – has been announced for the season opening concerts and Kocsis is no expected to return for several weeks, at the very least. We wish him a full and fast recovery.

Zoltan, get well soon!
And Kocsis is of course also a beloved pianist. His Debussy recordings and Ravel and Bartok piano concerto’s still stand out.
