Martin Hohmann has called us in a rehearsal break to give the reasons for his resignation as chairman of the London Philharmonic.
‘I have been doing this job for seven years now,’ he said, ‘and the time has come to focus on my playing. There is also a domestic reason. My wife has got a job in Cardiff and I needed to take that into consideration. I look forward to continuing to play in the orchestra.’
Hohmann was upset by the original headline of ‘turmoil in the orchestra’, saying that his fellow-players had received the news calmly. Although this referred to other events in the post, we have modified the original headline to avoid possible ambiguity.
