Nobody could get her to return to the notorious bearpit, but Daniel Barenboim has done it. She last appeared as Zerlina in Don Giovanni in 1993 and was engaged in further discussion but refused to take their calls since Riccardo Muti walked the gangplank in 2005.
Now, she has agreed to open the La Scala Philharmonic season with Daniel Barenboim this December, in Milan and on tour to Paris.

I think you’ll find that Muti ‘walked the gangplank’ in 2005, but la Bartoli was engaged on talks with him from 2004 about a possible collaboration at La Scala. Her last appearance at La Scala was indeed in the Don Giovanni that Muti conducted in 1993.
