Book your viewing now: Shostakovich apartment for sale at a bargain price

The St Petersburg apartment where Dmitri Shostakovich composed his Leningrad Symphony has gone on sale today for a knockdown price of 57,000 rubles. This cannot be true since 57,000 rubles is just 1,938.83 USD, but even at 57 million it would still be cheap.

Built in 1914, the flat has six rooms and 2 bathrooms and is described as being in good condition.

  1. I think that is 57000 thousand (тыс.) roubles, which comes in at a cool £1.2m, which might “still be cheap” by London standards but to us poor northerners that’s still a fair chunk of cash especially for a flat in Russia! :-)

Still, it’s a nice flat… in a very nice part of Russia.
