Bravo to the students of YPO!
Unfortunately NEC is not only a school for the arts. It is also a “business” and when it is run primarily as a business, as now seems to be the case–for it is NEC that has put the student-artists in the position of winning or losing, which is always the bottom line of business–the business side wins, unless the artists take on the less-than-pleasant attributes of the business side for the sake of their art. I wish these courageous artists well.
I found this strangely moving. Bravo NEC students!
Bravo YPO musicians!
Zander IN!
Woodcock OUT!
After the administration’s heavy-handed tactics of posting guards, sealing off the conductor audition, and threatening students with immediate dismissal if they protested by not taking part in the conductor audition, this quote by one student is especially meaningful to me: “The administration calls this a ‘tough transition time,” however it is not a transition time for those of us who believe in possibility. We believe in love, opportunity, courage and equality. Please reinstate Mr. Zander now.” Thank you very much for keeping the world’s eyes on — and hearts with — the students at NEC and the YPO
We are with you, YPO. You are more courageous than your elders. You are a credit to Mr. Zander and your school. Stay your ground.
these kids are Nec Prep Students not the actual college.
