How to play a Beethoven cycle in 2012

In Boston, we’ve had not one but THREE groups doing the LvB 16 + GF: the Muir Quartet in residence at Boston University, who did them all in one season; the Chiara Quartet performing at Harvard’s Paine Hall; the slackers are taking TWO seasons! And the Borromeo String Quartet, resident at the New England Conservatory of Music, also dilly-dallying for two seasons. I took in all of the Muir performances so I could honestly say I’ve heard them ALL in live performance. That won’t keep me from any future performances of the LvB SQs, especially the 12th.
