Due to an operation and rehab stay in the family I missed this blog entry when it first was published. It contains no YouTube reference so I decided to add one. I'm not familiar with a lot of Benny Carter's work, but this example sounds very good, with excellent solos by all involved.

Thanks for the link, Doug. I had to miss the concert because I had a gig in Staten Island that evening. I’ve played at the Nyack Library and attended other concerts there. It’s a great place to hear music.
I played a private party last night with Marvin, Mike Holober and drummer Andy Watson. Really fine musicians.

..What wonderful stories I just read about Stan. I know Bev and Nonie, a little..There straight shooters,bright and lovely too..In regard to Don Albert’s comment about Stan, playing a ballad.. reminds me of the great lyricst Sammy Cahn, writing lyrics so beautiful,witty and hauting..having another side to him that his children, to this day never did understand who he was..This is not the case with Stan. The people who were close to him saw the Real Man…He had the will and courage to convict himself in his last years and was pardoned by those who loved him..Especially, his lovely daughter, Bev……
