And yet...no one swung more than Basie. So if you want an education in swing, listen to the Count.

I always think of the difference between Basie and Ellington as like the difference between Sarah and Ella. Sarah had those operatic pipes and she could interpret lyrics nicely, and sing any kind of song (who, other than Sinatra, could deliver a wider range of material?), and yet...nobody could swing like Ella.
