Obviously another matter: Swinging a frisbee is great, but where’s Kim Novak? Jimmy Stewart?
At least the scenery looks like it, although the original mission had only one …fake campanile in the film:
“(…) Hitchcock added a bell tower using scale models, matte paintings, and trick photography…”

All true, I’m sure, but this is Mission Santa Barbara, not Mission San Juan Batista. Same era.

Well, Doug, the Mission Santa Barbara is certainly a beautiful place; you can at least be (almost!) sure that no fake blondes jump off bell towers

Wow – I did a double take for a moment. I was just there two weeks ago on holiday. Although I m sure you are familiar with them, I think it worthwhile to mention the The Santa Barbara Jazz Society and their excellent series at the Lobero.
