Alicia Anstead

The focus for both of my jobs - as chief arts and culture writer for the Bangor Daily News in Maine and as editor for the national trade magazine Inside Arts in Washington, D.C. - is analytical reporting and relevant, intelligent writing. I have been a reporter for 20 years, from the "glory" days of long arts stories to our industry's current state of flux and call-out boxes. I may be one of the few writers/editors who is excited about the changes and determined to navigate the blowy waters for the betterment and proliferation of excellence in arts journalism. Working in both rural and urban settings, I have a unique perspective on the role of media in community life. What drew me to NAJP originally was its leadership in the arts. What draws me now is the opportunity to add my own voice and experience to the conversation about the future.
