The Metropolitan Opera

First, the design is elegant and clean; somehow the fonts and layout support the art form's refined reputation while bold, saturated colors and splashy photos bring it all down to earth a bit. I especially like how "The ropolitan" is knocked out in the logo (The Metropolitan Opera), so as to say "we're giving you the full name, subscribers, but we're breaking it down for the nubies." Navigation: only six top navigation points and four featured widgets at the bottom. Easy, clear, draws you in. And all this with incredible content to back it up! My favorite features are the You Might Also Like on every production's page (what amazon.com does for products) and the interviews, which present, well, interviews from fascinating behind and on the-scenes players. For Philip Glass's opera Satyagraha, the site features interviews with Ela Gandhi and Chuck Close, among others. Here are really incredible and important perspectives on the work and production far beyond a director's note or an interview with the composer.
