  1. Hi Chloe,
I love reading your blog – you always write about an interesting topic, or present a different perspective than others.
You may recall that we corresponded some months ago about seeing theatre in a foreign language. I thought you would be interested in learning about the world’s largest international theatre festival that is held every two years in Bogota, Colombia. The 12th installment is opening at the end of March. Please read the following announcement – I think your audience would also be interested in knowing about this event, if you would like to post something about it. Also, the readers of the New York Times are sure to want to know – especially since the Times recently included Bogota as one of the 31 Places to Visit in 2010.
Please let me know what you think.
    Thanks,
    Tigre Haller
    THEATRE CAPITAL OF THE WORLD
The world’s largest international theatre festival -XII Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro de Bogota- FITB (the 12th Iberoamerican Theatre Festival of Bogota)- opens March 19 in Bogota, Colombia. Over 2,000,000 participants and performers will be in attendance, with over 100 companies from Colombia, U.S., France, Russia, England, Italy, China and more will be showcasing their work on stages, in shopping centers, up in the air, in public squares and other spaces. Concerts by Scottish rockers Franz Ferdinand, and Mallorcan chanteuse Concha Buika are special programming highlights. There will also be a huge number of street theatre performances, children’s theatre, improv slams and an exciting Theatre City.
Don’t think it is just quantity over quality – only the best companies in the world are invited to participate. A huge opening-night parade with over 2,000 revelers will wind its way through Bogota’s downtown district.
If at all possible, get on a plane to Bogota for this amazing theatrical extravaganza!
    Check-out their website:

Currently, the site is only in Spanish but they will be posting English information soon. Don’t let the language barrier stop you from exploring the site, and taking a look at the incredible programming on the Descargar Programacion tab.
This is a truly exciting international event that is just one example of why Bogota is the World Capital of Culture for the New Millennium.
