Of Manicures and Mutual Funds

Speaking of gaps, the Wall Street Journal has just launched a "Journal Women" section with--wait for it--articles on springtime clothing sales and helpful tips on diet and exercise. And don't get me started on the cleavage primer.

Seriously? Seriously? Though probably well intentioned, this ghetto section leaves me with a bad taste. FOX Sports suddenly looks almost progressive.

As my composer friend, Bonnie, used to say: It seems that women tend to write music in a circular form, because of their ovaries.

Maybe the NY Times Lipstick Columns will help women composers and women musicians channel their hysterics into beautiful, nurturing music, in circular form.

(Bonnie was joking, just to be clear. It was in response to a (male) composer discussing his preference for "feminine intervals" like minor thirds and major sevenths.)

I thought you might like to know that the two words that I have to "type into the box below" in order to get my comment past spam filters are "walnuts" and "dix." I'm not joking.

Better than the WSJ starting a "Journal Hootchies" section.

My two words are "Miami" and "mid-summer." Obviously the captcha is trying to get me to play "Big Willie Style."
