NEA fellowship opportunity for theater reporters,
critics and editors: The National Endowment for the Arts’ Theater and
Musical Theater Institute is a new journalism program aimed at strengthening
the analytical skills, deepening the theater knowledge, and clarifying the
function of theater reporters, critics and editors. The program will be held
at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles from February 21-March
4, 2005. The deadline to apply is Oct. 25. For more information on the program

Call for manuscripts and proposals for the
Americans for the Arts' Monograph series: Designed to be of practical use
to arts professionals and advocates, the Monograph series is a collection of
issue papers published four times each year. Readership includes professionals
at local and state arts agencies, arts funders, and arts policy and research
organizations. The series is also promoted to allied professions according to
interest in a particular topic. Monographs are concisely written, easy to
read, and offer multiple perspectives on a broad range of issues in arts
education, leadership and management, funding, and cultural policy. Completed
manuscripts between 4,000 and 6,000 words are invited. One-page proposals will
