Sarkozy Pledges $1.1 Billion To Digitize France's Literature
"The French National Library announced in August that it was engaged in discussions with Google over the digitization of its collections," news that "provoked an uproar among French officials and the publishing community." The money "pledged Monday will finance a public-private partnership," which "might well involve Google." The New York Times 12/15/09
