DANCE
Dividing the Estate (Hartford Stage, 50 Church St., Hartford, Conn., closes July 5). The Broadway production of Horton Foote's wickedly black comedy about the money troubles of a small-town family has transferred intact to Hartford Stage--with one improvement. Lois Smith (The Trip to Bountiful) has replaced Elizabeth Ashley, and her performance as the family's dying matriarch is at once deliciously mischievous and deeply poignant. Even if you caught this superlative staging in New York, it's worth a trip to Hartford to see it again (TT).Posted June 12, 2009 9:36 AM
