Miami City Ballet (City Center, 130 W. 56, Jan. 21-25 only). The long-awaited Manhattan debut of one of the world's most distinguished dance companies, which will be performing two mixed bills in which the emphasis is placed squarely on George Balanchine, Edward Villella's mentor and inspiration. The first program includes Balanchine's Symphony in Three Movements and La Valse and Twyla Tharp's In the Upper Room. The second is an all-Balanchine program: Square Dance, Rubies, and Symphony in C. A major, unmissable event (TT).
