November 26, 1999 `Arts Journal' Site Compiles Headlines from All Over The World PATTI HARTIGAN It's next to impossible to keep track of everything that's written about any given subject these days. That's why we need Web sites like Arts Journal (http://www.artsjournal.com, a concise compilation of headlines in the arts from all over the world. It's the brainchild of Douglas McLennan, a former reporter for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and the Seattle Weekly. McLennan is at his home computer every morning by 5, combing through more than 100 on-line publications to glean the best stories of the day. ``It's like curating a magazine,'' says McLennan. ``It's like taking this vast sea of raw stuff out there and trying to put it together in an interesting way.'' The site, launched last month, has already gained the support of two major foundations, and McLennan has plans to expand it. For now, the site offers a simple, easy way to stay in touch with the good, the bad, and the beautiful in the world of arts and films. ----- (The Boston Globe web site is at http://www.boston.com/globe/)
